New portrait photoshoot

Photoshoot with model and photographer Courtney Parrie (http://courtneyparrie.com/). The main portraits (minus the B&W which was taken in the shade of the forest/natural light) we taken with a beauty dish mounted on a 1000 watt X3200 White Lightning strobe and a catch light behind the subject (a 600 watt White Lighting with a 7" reflector).

The jumping action shots were taken with the same lights, except one on either side of the subject and powered to the same level. I had the beauty dish on the side Courtney was facing and had her jump in the air off train tracks as I shot at 24mm (Canon 24-70mm 2.8L). I decided to leave the power lines in the one action photo because I felt it added to the design.

The underwater 5 megapixel digital camera mask

Behold, the SeaLife SL321 ECOshot.

"The Only Digital Camera Swim Mask.
This is the worlds only swim mask that has an integrated waterproof digital camera, eliminating the need to carry an underwater camera, keeping your hands free as you swim. The masks eye pieces are made of tempered glass and have integrated crosshairs that allow you to line up shots easily; simply press the shutter button to take pictures or videos. An LED inside the mask tells you if you are in still picture or video mode. Downloading images is as easy as plugging in the mask to your PCs or Macs USB port (USB cable included)the included software allows you to edit your content. Its built-in 16 MB memory can store up to 30 high- resolution pictures (2560 x 1920) or up to 52 seconds of video. A microSD card slot allows you to expand memory for additional pictures or videos. Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas

Stock photo of Red Rock Canyon

The next time you are in or around Las Vegas, you should definitely visit Red Rock Canyon.
http://www.redrockcanyonlv.org/

It is a 13 mile road looping around an amazing red canyon that probably closely resembles the surface of Mars. It is about a 20 minute drive from the Vegas strip and perfect for a casual hike
or a convertible cruise.

Nick, Mike, and I (the 8112 Studios team) hit the park to take some stock high-definition footage and to generally mess around.

The Flip - mobile video recorder

www.theflip.com

My friend and talented country singer Rockie Lynne was nice enough to give me a Flip Video Ultra Player on a recent trip to Nashville (thanks Rockie!). This cool little device (sells for about $150) takes an hour worth of video in the form of an mpeg4 avi file.

The model I was given has 2 gigs of memory, takes up to 60 minutes of video, has a 1.5" lcd screen (528x132 pixels), captures video at 640x480 at 30 frames per second, has a microphone and speaker for audio capture and playback, works on 2 AA batteries, and has a built-in pop-up USB plug (means no card readers or cables :) ). I plan on keeping this baby in my camera bag. It is so compact!

Here is some sample video I took while I was in-studio with the band 3 Doors Down recently:

One more clip. Here is my loyal companion, Winston Churchill, taking a nap next to my desk:

My photo on display in Times Square

Sadly, it is not a photo of myself, but rather one of my portraits that is on display in Times Square in New York City. It is a photograph of "Northern Virginia businessman, community activist and helicopter pilot Scott Kasprowicz" who broke the international New York to Los Angeles transcontinental rotorcraft speed record on Saturday, February 16, 2008.
